Oracle: Create Database Link

Create Database Link example:

CREATE DATABASE LINK <DBLINK_NAME> CONNECT TO <USER> IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD> USING '<TNS_NAME_ENTRY>'; E.g.
CREATE DATABASE LINK DBDEV115 CONNECT TO VOLLETTS IDENTIFIED BY ahh_but_tis_a_secret_so_it_is USING 'DBDEV';

Or even better, because you don’t need to know the TNS_NAME_ENTRY as defined on the server you are creating the DBLINK from:

CREATE DATABASE LINK <DBLINK_NAME> CONNECT TO <USER> IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD> USING '<CONNECT_DESCRIPTOR>'; E.g.
CREATE DATABASE LINK DBDEV115 CONNECT TO VOLLETTS IDENTIFIED BY ahh_but_tis_a_secret_so_it_is USING '(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= SERVER3.ORG.GOV.AU)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SID=DBUAT  )))';
